West Indies name squad for Test series against Pakistan

ANTIGUA: West Indies have announced a 15-member squad for the two-match Test series against Pakistan, with Joshua Bishop earning his maiden call-up.

The series will commence on 25 July at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, marking the first men’s Test match ever staged at the venue, followed by the second fixture from 2 August at the Queen’s Park Oval.

The squad largely remains unchanged from that faced Sri Lanka earlier this month, with the notable inclusion of left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop, who has been called to the squad for the first time.

According to the Cricket West Indies (CWI) statement, Joshua has been named in the squad on the back of stellar performances in domestic cricket.

“Bishop, has been among the most consistent bowlers in regional cricket, claiming 91 wickets for the Barbados Pride and the West Indies Academy across the past three West Indies Championship seasons, the highest tally by any bowler during that period,” the statement read.

Besides Joshua Bishop, opening batter Kirk McKenzie is also recalled after John Campbell was ruled out due to injury. McKenzie last played in the format in 2024.

“McKenzie performed well over the course of this season’s West Indies Championship, scoring 323 runs in six innings at an average of 64.60,” it added.

Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph was unavailable due to personal reasons.
