
DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday announced the player of the month nominees for June 2026, with India captain Shubman Gill among the contenders.
Gill enjoyed a rich vein of form across formats, commencing his dominant run with a 126 against Afghanistan in a one-off Test, cementing his status with 10 Test centuries.
The right-hander carried his Test form into the three-match ODI series, finishing with 238 runs in two innings, including an 84 from 66 balls in the series opener. Shubman Gill then notched up a sublime 154 from 110 deliveries in Lucknow to earn the Player of the Series award.
Bangladesh all-rounder Mossadek Hossain marked his return to international cricket in style by winning the Player of the Series in his side’s 2-1 ODI series win over Australia.
Mossadek returned to the fold after a four-year absence, delivering an all-round shot, scoring 86 and picking up two wickets in the first ODI. His brilliance helped the Tigers secure an 86-run victory, marking only their second ODI win over Australia and first since 2005.

The 30-year-old finished as Bangladesh’s top run-getter in the series with 157 runs to his name, including two fifties, and played a central role in Bangladesh’s victory in the ODI series.
New Zealand fast bowler Nathan Smith also earned a nomination after impressing with the ball during the 2-1 Test series win over England. The right-arm pacer emerged as the leading wicket-taker with 16 scalps. He was named Player of the Series for his outstanding contributions with the ball.
Smith fired up in the opening match, scalping nine wickets, including a six-fer in the second innings. New Zealand, however, lost the match.
He did not have the best of outings in the second fixture, picking up only a solitary wicket. However, he returned with six wickets in the series decider to clinch a memorable series win.
With several New Zealand quicks ruled out due to injury, Nathan Smith emerged as the leader of a depleted attack and delivered excellent performances throughout the series.
