LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has included Abdullah Shafique and Saud Shakeel in the squad for the West Indies and England tours.
The changes were confirmed by PCB in a press release, after top-order batter Abdullah Fazal was ruled out due to injury. Fazal suffered a back injury on the eve of the first Test at the Brian Lara International Cricket Academy.
“Right-handed Test batter Abdullah Shafique has been included in the squad as his replacement. Saud Shakeel has also been added to the squad as an additional replacement, providing the team management with another experienced option in the batting department,” the press release said.
Shakeel was not included in the squads for the West Indies and England tours due to fitness concerns. Meanwhile, Shafique last played for Pakistan in October 2025 and was overlooked after a poor run. The right-handed batter started his Test career brightly, amassing 856 runs in the first eight Tests at an average of 65. However, he has managed just 754 runs at an average of 25.13 in his last 31 innings.
Following the two-match Test series against the West Indies, Pakistan will travel to England for three Tests, scheduled from 19 August to 13 September.
