MLC 2026: Rovman Powell hits Haris Rauf for four sixes in an over

OAKLAND: Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf was smashed for four sixes in an over by Rovman Powell during the Qualifier in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 at the Oakland Coliseum.

Put into bat first, Los Angeles Knight Riders piled up 187 in 20 overs against San Francisco Unicorns, largely due to half-centuries from Colin Munro, Andre Russell, and Rovman Powell.

Munro played a role in building a solid foundation with his 51 off 44, including two sixes and five fours.

The late impetus to the innings was provided by Russell, who hit three sixes and four boundaries in his 62* off 50 balls. On the contrary, Powell played a blinder, hitting a 50* off just 15 balls, tonking six maximums and two fours.

The right-hander went berserk in Rauf’s 19th over, smashing four sixes.

On the second ball of the over, Powell capitalized on a low full-toss and hit it down towards long on, with the fielder on the boundary rope doing well in an attempt to catch the ball and send the ball inside. However, it was signaled as a six.

After conceding a six, Rauf lost his radar and bowled his third wide of the over. With the right-arm pacer under pressure, Powell launched three more maximums — one over long-on from a short ball, another over long-on off a length delivery, and finally one over long-off after Rauf offered him the width.

As a result, Haris Rauf finished his four-over quota without taking a wicket while giving away 53 runs.

In reply, San Francisco Unicorns fell seven runs short, finishing their innings on 180-3 despite skipper Matthew Short remaining unbeaten on 94 from 62 balls.

For Knight Riders, Sunil Narine and Shadley van Schalkwyk picked up two wickets each.

With this win, Los Angeles Knight Riders booked a place in MLC 2026 final.
