GUYANA: Bangladesh all-rounder Shamim Hossain has replaced Abdullah Shafique in the Lahore Qalandars squad for the remainder of the Global Super League (GSL) 2026.
The franchise confirmed the change in a social media post, stating that Abdullah would return to Pakistan for the Test series against the West Indies and England.
The right-hander, who last played for Pakistan in October 2025, has been called up as a replacement for the injured Abdullah Fazal.
“Abdullah Shafique joins the Pakistan squad for national duty. We wish him the very best, while Bangladesh all-rounder Shamim Hossain joins the Qalandars family for the remainder of the Global Super League in Guyana,” the caption of the post read.

Meanwhile, this will mark Shamim’s first stint in a franchise league, having previously played all of his T20 cricket in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Shamim has represented Bangladesh in 52 T20Is and has amassed 621 runs at a strike rate of 122.72 with the help of a fifty.
In the BPL, he has scored 1,040 runs in 61 matches across five seasons at a strike rate of 141.68, with six fifties.
Lahore Qalandars are second in the GSL 2026 points table, having won two of their three matches, with their only defeat coming against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
