England dethrone India to claim No. 1 spot in ICC T20I Rankings

DUBAI: England have dethroned India from the top spot in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Rankings after completing a 4-0 T20I series sweep.

England’s thumping win in the fourth T20I ended the Men in Blue’s 1,600-day reign at the top of the T20I rankings.

After winning the 2026 T20 World Cup earlier this year, India struggled for consistency, first losing the two-match series before suffering a 4-0 defeat to England. Under newly appointed captain Shreyas Iyer, India are yet to register a win.

Earlier today, Harry Brook and Jos Buttler dismantled India’s bowling attack with a 233-run partnership for the second wicket in the fifth T20I in Southampton.

While the opener scored a scintillating century, his skipper stayed unbeaten on 95, also bringing up his quickest half-century in T20Is in the process.

Ahead of the final T20I, Buttler said reclaiming the No. 1 ranking was England’s target, and his side achieved it in style.

The series started with rain having the final say in Chester-le-Street, followed by England dominating the next four games, while also handing India their biggest defeat in T20Is in Nottingham and chasing down 159 in just 13.4 overs in Bristol.
